RE-VISITING THE WMP HYBRID KIT

This was the first White Marine Pearl kit that I assembled from random drums with similar wraps.  Not to be confused with my "WMP U.S. Mercury Kit," this assemblage is a hodgepodge of American and Japanese brands, all abandoned single drums without a family that I brought together to form a complete kit.

Not only do I need to record the different sizes of these drums, I will list the brand names as well.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 5 x 14" Stewart Snare Drum
  • 8 x 12" U.S. Mercury Tom
  • 16 x 16" Ludwig Floor Tom
  • 14 x 20" Slingerland Bass Drum

Is it just me, or does the "G" in that Slingerland logo look like a "Q?"  That has always bothered me.  Anyways, not much more I can say about this one, other than now that I have my photos, it's ON TO THE NEXT ONE.....

This brings to a close my brief synopsis of the "White Marine Pearl Hybrid Kit," sometimes rudely referred to as a "Frankenstein" kit.....which is totally a misnomer, since Frankenstein was the name of the doctor, not the monster he created out of random dead bodies.  If you want to say a "Frankenstein's Monster Kit," which is more accurate but sounds like a large drum set put together for a Halloween party, go ahead, but all-in-all the whole thing sounds STUPID to me.....which is why I call it a "hybrid" kit.
