Searching around on Ebay one day I came across this cute little 10" x 6" deep Tama Snare Drum for less than fifty bucks. I decided it could be cleaned up without much effort and would make an interesting little novelty to knock around on. So I slapped a bid on it and ended up winning it without competition.
Underneath the well-worn heads, a few tiny rust spots and a minor accumulation of dust and fingerprints I found a perfectly good mini-snare. In fact, after I cleaned and polished the metal shell, I discovered most of the hardware only needed a thorough wiping down with a clean, soft cloth. I did have to completely disassemble the lugs in order to polish the dirty swivel nuts, but the lugs and tension rods were relatively clean. Then the rims and butt plate needed some polish to remove the rusty spots, dust and fingerprints, and the whole thing looked brand new again.
Here are the "After" photos:
Well.....that was easy!
