BUILDING THE BLACK VISTALITES

My latest project is the construction of a vintage Ludwig Black Vistalite kit.  This endeavor began with a single 12-inch tom that I acquired many, many years ago and used with a thrown-together set I called the "LudSlinger" kit.  I can't remember how I ended up with this drum but I think someone may have just given it to me.

The LudSlinger kit was later broken up so that the mismatched pieces could join other drums of their own kind to form uniform kits.  The chrome Slingerland bass drum became part of the "COW" kit, the Ludwig WMP floor tom became part of the "White Pearl," and I held on to this black Vistalite tom in hopes that one day I could match it up with a snare, bass and floor as well.

I am finally getting around to doing this now.  I am currently working on a 22-inch Ludwig Black Vistalite bass drum that I found on Ebay.  At this point in time, however, the drum looks like this:

Before a drum becomes part of a kit, I disassemble it completely and clean it down to its nether-regions.  This is a long and tedious process that most people do not wish to engage in, but I find the results to be very satisfying.

Pardon me for cutting this short, but I would like to get back to work now.
