While I am awaiting my acrylic snare drum shell to arrive, I have to busy myself with other little projects to keep my mind off the unbearable anxiousness that threatens to consume me. Okay, I was being a bit overdramatic there but when I can't work on the project I want to work on (the Ludwig Jellybeans), there are other matters that need my attention.
Take, for example, this Latin Percussion Jam Block. This instrument is in good condition, but some idiot tried to paint it black. That idiot would be me. I have the entire collection of LP Jam Blocks, but I didn't particularly like the variety of colors they come in, so I decided to paint them all black. They looked really cool and uniform after being painted but, as I soon learned, these plastic blocks do not hold the paint for very long. Soon after whacking them a few times, the black paint began chipping right off again.
Acknowledging my folly, now I needed to remove the black paint. Using my trusty "Goof Off," this was accomplished in a matter of minutes. Once again this block is bright red as it was originally intended.
This was not a major Percussion Restoration Project, but it was something that needed to be done. Now I guess I should remove the paint from the orange, the blue and the purple blocks I have.
