INSIDE THE TWENTY-SIXER

Well, my Ludwig 26" Marching Bass Drum has arrived!  After tearing into the package I immediately began to remove the drum heads in order to examine the interior of the drum.  No photos of this had been provided for the auction and this greatly concerned me.  You never know what horrors you may encounter when buying vintage drums advertised with limited photographs.  When the heads were removed I made a remarkable.....shocking discovery.

BLUE??!!  Blue plastic??!!

No, what I have here is a Blue Vistalite bass drum that was painted white on the outside.  CAN YOU IMAGINE?!  This was actually a Ludwig Blue Vistalite Marching Bass Drum and some... idiot... moron... A-hole... painted it white!!!!  AAAAAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!

This changes everything.  My whole approach.  I wonder if there is some way to remove paint from acrylic without damaging the acrylic?  Much research will be necessary.

Man, I can't even fathom how incredibly awesome it would be to own a 26-inch Ludwig Blue Vistalite Marching Bass Drum.  If only....
