WHAT IN THE WORLD...PERCUSSION?!

So here is what the misplacedmtnman has been up to lately.  I am trying to learn how to play these two unique "world percussion" instruments.  The one with all the markings on it is a DIDGERIDOO from Australia.  Well, actually this one is not really from Australia, mate, but it is a less expensive reproduction made by Meinl that I thought I would start out on.  Although this is technically more of a woodwind than a percussion instrument, it makes a lot of percussive noises that are really cool and highly effective at irritating all those who live in the same house as you.  When they complain, however, I simply accuse them of being racist against Aboriginees.

The other long stick with the metal wire and hollowed-out gourd attached to it is called a BERIMBAU.  This instrument comes from Brazil and is equally as nerve-racking to those around you trying to work on a computer or read a book.  Imagine a one-string guitar that you tap repeatedly with a small stick to produce maybe one or two different notes.  It's freaking awesome.

When I get more proficient at these noise-makers, maybe I'll post a demonstration video.  Then again.....probably not.  What have you ever shared with me?
