KNOCKIN' AROUND ON THE KNOCKER

As covered previously in an equally-as-uninteresting post, I recently purchased a gigantic 22" Zildjian Swish Knocker.  The cymbal was in good overall condition but a little dirty, and all but three of its rivets had fallen out.  This, I have discovered, is a repair project that most drummers do not care to attempt, especially on the monstrous Knocker which features twenty rivet holes.

I succeeded in securing the necessary Zildjian replacement rivets without any difficulty, but finding a video on YouTube explaining how to install rivets on a cymbal was a different matter.  I couldn't find a single clip that clearly demonstrated how it is done.  Therefore I had to develop my own method, which I will not divulge here.  I don't give away my trade secrets either.

Here is what the Swish Knocker cymbal sounds like now that it has been restored:

Wow.  That is a major thunderstorm, isn't it?  Yes, it is.  What a cool cymbal.  If you happen to acquire a Swish Knocker for yourself and you need some rivets replaced on it - or any other "china," "swish" or "sizzle" cymbal - just contact me: the misplacedmtnman.  I'll fix it up for you.
