RE-VISITING THE GSP STEWARTS

A while back I put together this trio of "Gold Sparkle Pearl" drums.  The bass drum I found was a rather rare 14x22 model bearing a Stewart badge and the 8x12-inch tom, recovered from an entirely different location, bore the same label.  The snare, although wrapped with a similar bright gold finish - almost a "tangerine sparkle" - had a different badge, one that was round and bore the name "Starlight," but it was dang close enough in appearance if not in name.  They're all made in Japan, you know.

Then this project was put on indefinite hold while I waited for a floor tom to show up.  Gold sparkle, although a little more rare than red or blue sparkle, is still a fairly common wrap found on vintage MIJ drums, so my waiting was not absolutely hopeless.  I figured one would turn up eventually.  And it did, here amongst these river rocks (not sure why that is.)

This 16x16 floor tom had a badge very similar in shape and color as the Stewart badges, but it bore the name "Crest Deluxe."  This, I surmised, could be fixed by removing the badge and replacing it with a Stewart badge.  So I put my evil, deceptive plan into action.

Short story long, the transplant operation went well and everyone survived.  No one will ever know that this Stewart floor tom is actually a "Crest Deluxe" floor tom, as if that mattered.

Now for the Final Project Photos:
