What would you do if you came across this old metal "Made-In-Japan" snare drum?
Would you buy it? Would you trash it? Just ignore it for starts?
Would you toss it in a corner? Or maybe "gut it" for parts?
Hey! This sounds like a Dr. Suess "Green Eggs and Ham" poem!!
"I would not eat them on a chair,Well, I have to begrudgingly admit that I actually did buy this snare drum with the nefarious intention of stealing the snare strainer off of it. But luckily I found another strainer I could use so I didn't have to cannibalize this drum. Here are some "Before" photos of this drum, which was quite filthy when I first received it:
I would not eat them on this snare,
I would not eat them here or there,
I would not eat them ANYwhere!!"
So later, when I ran out of other projects to keep me busy, I decided to clean up this snare drum. I didn't have anything else to do, so what the heck? Here are photos of the drum from the same three angles as above:
Isn't that beautiful? And the best part is, I put the same old, generic heads back on afterwards, tightened them up as snug as I could, and teamed this snare up with my Black Diamond kick drum and some 14 Quick Beats. Was I amazed?!! Absolutely!! This "chromey wonder" has a slap-taculous CRACK that would...make a CRACKhead wanna.....do some CRACK.....or something. Whatever. So from now on this drum will be known as the "Chromey Crackhead." Makes sense to me. Seriously, this drum sounds freakin' incredible. I love it.
That's all for this project.....ya crackhead.....
