BLACK VISTALITE MAGNIFICENCE

Here I display my progress on the vintage Ludwig Black Vistalite kit I have been building for no particular reason.  This all started with an 8x12" tom, to which I added a 14x22" bass drum and an 16x18" floor tom.  Since then I have added a 9x13" tom and two concert toms, 10" and 12".  The snare drum I am using is not a Vistalite but instead a wooden 5x14" Japanese no-name, white wrap with black and silver flecks.  I think it looks and sounds much better than a black Vistalite snare would.  I just prefer a wood snare.  And I had trouble finding a black Vistalite snare anyway.

All of these drums were purchased individually from different parts of the country and brought together here after thorough cleaning, re-heading and tuning.  Of course I am employing the Neil Peart "spiral staircase" set-up, wherein the high toms are to the upper left and step down and around the kit as they get larger, finishing with a big 18" on the floor on the bottom right.  I plan to add other drums if I can find them, specifically a 16x16" floor tom or a 14x14" floor tom down low, and perhaps the 6" and 8" concert toms up top.  But then the kit would be too dang big to fit in the corner of the drum room and that would be frustrating.

But knowing me, I'd buy them anyway just to have them.

And NO, this kit is not for sale.
