THE WHITE PEARL: DONE.

Tonight I finished up the White Pearl kit.  The new bass drum heads arrived and I polished up the last little bit of trim on the newly-repainted hoops.  Man, does this kit look beautiful!  It sounds good, too!  Give that photo a click and get a closer look at a job well done.

Here is what the bass drum looked like when I acquired it:

The drum was quite dirty, the heads were shot and the wooden hoops needed repainting, which has now all been taken care of.  It is not very obvious in this photo, but some of the T-rods and claws (those chrome "hooks" that hold the hoops in place) did not match, so these were removed and replaced with proper, authentic Slingerland hardware.  These are the "Torpedo"-style T-rods, as they are called, and now they all match up.

There was no other major work to be done on this drum, so now this project is complete.
