THE FOURTEEN FLOOR

I have now expanded the Mini-Fortress once again, this time along the eastern wall.  This I accomplished by adding a second floor tom - not a gigantic 16 x 18" monster, but a compact 14 x 14".  While sixteens and eighteens are fairly common, how many 14" floor toms have you seen lately?  NONE, baby, which is why the Mini-Fortress is so freakin' sweet!

This drum, like the 8 and 10s at the other end, is an Imperialstar model, not a Swingstar, for reasons I have already explained in a previous post.  Despite this, it blends in perfectly and "rounds out" my collection of toms, bringing the total to an even six.  It also balances the look of the kit, smoothing out the "spiral staircase" design I was going for, which strangely resembles the layout of a certain Mr. Peart.  What a weird coincidence!  He and I must think alike.

Wait a minute!  Now that I think about it, I could perhaps fit the 18" floor tom in there somewhere, huh?  Perhaps mounted at an angle like Neil's?!!

Oh geez.....some people don't know when to quit!

So anyway, now once again I must update my absolutely fascinating AutoCAD rendering of the current setup, detailing all the components that make up the Mini-Fortress.  Actually, the only thing that has changed is the addition of the fourteen floor, but I so enjoy playing around with this design.
