When I brought the 13" tom back into my setup, making my kit a five-piece once again, I used a snare stand to place it temporarily in a "floor tom" position. After I got comfortable with this arrangement, I decided it was time to devise a more permanent mounting solution.
The most practical way to accomplish this was to utilize a Tama "Fast Clamp" Single Tom Holder that connects to my ride cymbal stand. This handy little device holds the drum sturdily right where I need it and minimizes the addition of bulky hardware.

It may seem crazy to have a single cymbal stand supporting a 20" ride with a 15" crash above, a China-type off to the side, a set of bar chimes
and a 13" tom, but even "bottom-of-the-line" Tama hardware comes with rock-steady, double-braced tripods that can withstand a hefty amount of weight. It did not surprise me when all of this held up with no wobbling whatsoever. That's why I love Tama. I can rig up all my stuff without having to arrange multiple stands for each individual item. I say the fewer the tripods, the better.
